A day in Provence in the Alpilles
Les Baux de Provence - Maussane les Alpilles - le Paradou - Fontvieille - Saint Rémy de Provence - Aroma and Perfume Museum

Let’s start the day tour in Provence in the heart of the Alpilles by visiting one of the “most beautiful villages in France”, Les Baux de Provence. This unique village, perched on a rocky outcrop 247 m high, will amaze you with its paved streets, its renaissance houses… The baux château, located at the top of the village, offers spectacular views of the vines, the olive groves, the Camargue…as far as the sea.
After lunch in Baux de Provence, let’s take the little picturesque roads down, through the Provençal village of Maussane les Alpilles, to see the little Provence of Paradou. It houses one of the biggest crib scenes in the world which includes more than 400 Provençal crib figures in a miniature Provençal village.
Next let’s move on to Fontvieille, a very typical charming village, in the footsteps of Alphonse Daudet with the discovery of his Mill, built in 1814. This village will also surprise you with the ruins of the Roman aqueduct under which we’ll pass to continue our Provençal tour.
We’re going to take one of the most beautiful roads in the area, running alongside the mountain range of the Alpilles and crossing olive groves so that you can see wonderful scenery which will leave an unforgettable memory.
Go through Eygalières, to the capital of the Alpilles, Saint Rémy de Provence. Vincent Van Gogh was interned in the Saint Paul de Mausole Cloister, where he painted the masterpieces which are sought after by museums worldwide. This small town also bears witness to the presence of the Romans and you can visit Glanum (Roman town), the Antiques...
On the way back, we’ll go through Les Baux de Provence again, where you could visit the Sarragan Wine Cellars, a unique site, dug into the rock. You’ll enjoy tasting the A.O.C des Coteaux d’Aix wines in a renowned underground wine cellar, the only one of its kind in the world.
This private tour comes to an end among the thousand and one fragrances at the Aroma and Perfume Museum at Graveson. We’ll visit the museum and its aromatic garden where the natural and beneficial scents of the essential oils come from.
