A day in the Camargue

Let’s head for the Camargue, to explore Arles, an ancient Roman city and a UNESCO world heritage site. The biggest urban centre in France offers an architectural heritage which is the only one of its kind in the world. You can visit the Amphitheatre, the Ancient Theatre, the Alyscamps garden, the Sainte Trophime church… You can also follow in the footsteps of the painter Vincent Van Gogh when he stayed in the city.  

We’ll cross the Regional Natural Reserve of the Camargue, in particular the Etang de Vaccarès, where you can see pink flamingoes, bulls, horses from the Camargue… on our way Saintes Maries de la Mer to walk around the marina and visit the town and the 12th century church. You can have a leisurely lunch in this old fishing village which has since become a seaside resort.

The private sightseeing tour in Camargue will draw to a close as we go across the salt lakes of the Camargue Gardoise, to visit the medieval fortress of Aigues-Mortes protected by 1634 metres of ramparts with 20 towers positioned along them. You can visit the Constance Tower, which is more than 40 metres high and offers a spectacular view of the Camargue, salt tables and mounds of salt or camelles from the salt marshes.
