Let’s set off on the wine route to discover the most famous vineyards of the Côtes du Rhône. You’ll be able to visit the wine cellars and chais of well-known estates and taste their most renowned wines.

First, you’ll discover the magnificent village of Séguret, nestled on a rocky peak and listed as one of the “most beautiful villages of France”. As you meander through its cobbled streets you will be able to feel its diverse and rich history. The Domaine de Mourchon, in an exceptional setting, near the village, will warmly welcome you to taste its best vintages. The owners will gladly recount the secrets of their wine growing and a tour of the cellar, the vinification chais and ageing barrels, as well as a walk in the vineyards will be part of this experience. The vineyards, situated at 350m above sea-level, offer panoramic views, of the Dentelles de Montmirail and the Mont Ventoux.

At the heart of the Dentelles de Montmirail, you’ll discover the vineyards of Beaumes de Venise whose red wines have achieved Côtes du Rhône distinction. However, Beaumes de Venise, is above all famous for its Muscat, gold in a bottle. It is famous throughout the world, and has earned a reputation as one of the best. You’ll be able to taste the well-known Muscat after the visit of the cellar of one great wine estate.

Finally, to end this “wine tasting” excursion, we‘ll make our way towards Châteauneuf du Pape where you will discover the most prestigious vineyards in the Côtes du Rhône. The vines were originally planted by the Popes in the Middle Ages, and have been famous ever since the 18th century. Châteauneuf du Pape became the first officially recognised ‘appellation d’origine contrôlée’ of the Côtes du Rhône in 1936. It extends over more than 3,300 hectares and is worked by more than 55 private estates and 300 wine growers. You’ll be invited to take a guided tour of one famous wine estate to understand the winemaking process and use of oak casks and barrels. You’ll have the opportunity to find out more and taste the wines and vintages of Châteauneuf du Pape in a privately reserved room. On our return, we’ll pass through the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape to visit the hill-top castle, and admire the fabulous views over the vineyards, the Rhône Valley, Avignon and its Papal City, the Alpilles, the Luberon, the Mont Ventoux…
